About the CAMH
Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (CAMH) is a non-collecting institution devoted to the best international, national, and regional art of the present moment. Founded in 1948, the organization presents new work and documents its place in contemporary life through exhibitions, lectures, publications, and public programs. Since 1972, it has occupied its landmark stainless steel building—designed by architect Gunnar Birkerts—in the heart of the Houston Museum District, where six to eight exhibitions each year range from internationally recognized artists to those early in their careers.
CAMH pARTy, the Museum’s annual benefit and art auction, raises vital support for that work: exhibitions, public programs, and free admission for all. The 2026 edition celebrated Sissy and Denny Kempner, whose leadership, generosity, and vision have been instrumental to CAMH’s vitality and growth.
For the invitation, we looked to the building itself for inspiration. Birkerts’ stainless steel parallelogram—still an iconics structure in Montrose after fifty years—became the organizing idea: its geometry echoed in the folds of the visual identity and invitation suite. Orange folds into pink, and somewhere in that diagonal is the spirit of CAMH—a museum that has been rewriting the expected since it opened its doors. Good design knows where it lives.
