St. Andrew’s Episcopal School case study

Golden Grid Logo Generator

This is a tool for creating additional on-brand variations of the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School logo for your everyday use.

How to use it

  1. Press Generate (or the space bar) for a new composition.
  2. Click any shape to swap just that one and keep the rest.
  3. Use Grid, Rotate and Logo to show or hide the guides, allow shapes to turn in quarter steps, and include the wordmark.
  4. Choose SVG or PNG and press Export. Files have a transparent background and are cropped to the grid. Turn the grid off first for a final mark.

About the mark

As a Montessori school, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School uses a set of principles and tenets that are closely related to concepts in design. Most notably: movement and cognition, interest, and order in the environment and mind.

These became the framework for the school’s combination mark, with the golden ratio as the grid that sets where each element may be placed. A mathematical order found in both nature and art, the golden ratio organizes the St. Andrew’s wordmark in a composition of three Montessori-inspired shapes.

This tool generates permutations of the mark within that grid and the defined palette, and exports each one as an SVG or PNG.
