In Brief
We helped 4WD Coffee with naming, product development, branding, packaging, communication and marketing strategy for their new-to-market coffee brand. While still developing, our efforts have helped 4WD grow exponentially and achieve prominent placement with a growing list of retailers and corporate partners including the Hyatt Regency and Specs.
Our approach to the design of 4WD was to draw from the elements and gear for the outdoors to create an identity and packaging system that inspires people to get out and explore the world around them—whether a local, state, or national park. We built a system of badges, emblems, local critters, and navigational based iconography to create endlessly mixable variations of elements.
For each roast, we took inspiration from the amazing and diverse landscape in Texas—our home—inventing names inspired by real places right in our state backyard. Each roast has a description, details, and facts of the featured area for those that want to explore with more than their taste buds.
We created art unique to each roast, always taking inspiration from what surrounds us—from the Texas hill country, to Caprock Canyon (where the old lineage of Charles Goodnight’s buffalo roam), to Port Aransas (a frequent stop for the whooping crane).
